Apple Watch Series 3 - handy gadget for athletes

Our Apple Watch Series 3 is a special edition because it’s made of stainless steel instead of aluminum. Specifically, it’s the Apple Watch Series 3 Stainless Steel White Sport Band. In this article, we explain everything you want to know about the Apple Watch Series 3!

Apple Watch Series 3

This edition of the Apple Watch was originally released in September 2017. A fun fact is that this Apple Watch was never sold in Belgian stores! So, if you wear this smartwatch, you’re extra unique. Another fun fact: this Apple Watch Series 3 has a red ‘Digital Crown,’ meaning it has a red dial that really stands out.

Thanks to the improved Dual Core S3 chip, this Apple Watch is faster than its predecessors, and you can communicate with Siri from your wrist. All incoming calls, messages, and notifications are received on your smartwatch. Convenient—you’ll never have to take your phone out of your pocket again! The box includes a charging cable and a USB adapter.

Note: The Apple Watch Series 3 only works in combination with an iPhone 6s or newer editions. You also need to have at least iOS 13 installed on your iPhone (or newer versions).

Apple Watch Series 3 waterproof

This watch is made of stainless steel, which means that the Apple Watch Series 3 is water-resistant and will never rust. Super handy if you get caught in a heavy rainstorm! For avid swimmers, this watch is a must-have as well. The watch is water-resistant up to 50 meters deep! This means you can time your laps and set even better records.

The Apple Watch can track how many laps you swim and which strokes you use. When you’re done swimming, the Apple Watch blows out the water from the speakers with a loud sound. On your phone, you can then see how many meters you’ve swum, your time per meter, and how many strokes you’ve made in total.

Note: For some high-speed water activities or deep-sea diving, this function of the Apple Watch 3 will not work. This includes activities like scuba diving and waterskiing.

The Apple Watch Series 3: Ideal for every athlete

It’s now clear that this smartwatch is great for swimming, but it’s also perfect for many other sports. The Apple Watch Series 3 features a GPS sensor and altimeter. If you do a lot of walking or running, you can easily track your route with the built-in GPS sensor. Of course, your Apple Watch also tracks your distance and speed. Additionally, this smartwatch has an altimeter, which is indispensable if you often go on vacations to mountainous areas! Also nice: since this smartwatch has a rubber sport band, it effectively wicks away sweat.

Heart rate sensor and sports

Your heart rate is automatically measured throughout the day. While exercising, you can see your heart rate displayed on a graph. Even while swimming, your heart rate is measured! You also gain insights into your fitness level, the intensity of your workout, and recovery information. You can even set heart rate zones. If you want to work on your fitness, you can train several times in a high heart rate zone. Prefer to do a recovery workout to avoid overloading your muscles? Then you’ll mainly train in a lower heart rate zone.

Heart rate sensor and health

In addition to tracking your heart rate during exercise, it also offers many health benefits. If you have an irregular heart rate, you’ll immediately get a notification. An irregular heart rate can be a sign of an arrhythmia. By being aware of this, you can seek medical advice early. There have already been cases where lives were saved thanks to this function of the Apple Watch! The watch can also detect when you’re under too much stress. Knowing this can help you take action, such as meditating, sleeping, or exercising. This function can help prevent serious issues like burnout.

4G support: A glimpse into the future

The Apple Watch Series 3 has built-in 4G support. Currently, it’s possible in Belgium with Telenet to give your smartwatch an internet connection, though this function does not yet work in the Netherlands. Ideal, as it allows you to leave your phone at home while running and still listen to music via the Apple Watch.
