Backlight bleeding on iPads, what does it mean?

Maybe you've heard of the term 'backlight bleeding.' In short, it means that the backlighting of your display is no longer functioning optimally. It is a fairly common issue on devices with an LCD screen. Because the screen differs from a normal one, a refurbished iPad with light bleeding is extremely affordable. You can find all of our iPads with backlight bleeding in our Outlet. Want to know more about backlight bleeding and see example photos? Read on.

How does backlight bleeding occur?

The ‘bleeding’ of the backlight is caused by improper sealing around the edges of the device. As a result, light ‘leaks’ from the background to the foreground. It enters the pixel layer, causing the color to deviate.

It’s important to know that slight color changes around the edges of the screen are perfectly normal. Most LCD screens have some backlight bleeding.

What does backlight bleeding look like on an iPad?

Backlight bleeding is mostly visible around the edges of the screen. You’ll see a few white spots on the screen, mostly spread along the edges. The ‘bleeding’ of the backlight doesn’t affect the readability of the text on the screen. So, you can read your emails, messages, or DMs without worry.

On the other hand, if the backlighting is very severe, it might distract you. You may keep noticing it, and this could make it hard to work on your iPad normally. It’s really a personal decision whether an iPad with backlight bleeding suits you. Some people don’t mind, while others might find it annoying. Below are a few example photos. Note: these photos are of a random model, so the one you order may differ from these.
