Beware of MacKeeper

MacKeeper: many of our customers come across it. With large and loud internet advertisements, Mac users are warned that their Mac is at risk. By installing MacKeeper, the problems would be detected, analyzed, and solved. Nothing could be further from the truth; it is an app that causes more problems than it solves.

Antivirus software MacKeeper

MacKeeper is antivirus software from the American company Zeobit. According to Zeobit, the program optimizes the performance of your Mac by making it cleaner, faster, and more secure. However, there has been much criticism of MacKeeper for years. Firstly, the program presents itself as a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. It uses fake test results to convince Mac users to install MacKeeper. The application does not make your Mac faster, but slower by deleting caches (storage places where data is temporarily stored for faster access) that have to be filled again. Moreover, you will experience intrusive advertisements and pop-ups, which carry the risk of installing adware (a software application that displays advertisements) and spyware (a software application that tracks the user’s personal information and passes it on to third parties). As a result, you are almost forced to purchase the paid version of MacKeeper.

Removing MacKeeper
By the time you realize that MacKeeper is causing all these problems, it’s often too late. Removing the app is not that easy.
