Refurbished by manufacturer, what does that mean?

For some refurbished products, such as MacBooks and iMacs with the five-star grading, the term refurbished by the manufacturer is also mentioned. But what does this actually mean?

Devices with this designation have been fully inspected by Apple itself. These models were either returned or used as demo models. The manufacturer repairs them where necessary but can no longer sell them as new products.

These devices have a casing that is almost indistinguishable from new. Additionally, the battery has been charged a maximum of 10 times. So, they are practically brand new and come in the original packaging with the corresponding accessories. Of course, we also provide a 2-year warranty on these products. This way, you get the experience of a new device at an attractive price.

No Refurbished Certificate?

All products with the status 'refurbished by the manufacturer' do not have the Refurbished Certificate label. A device can only carry the certificate label if it has been tested by a company with a Refurbished Certificate from TÜV Netherlands. All devices with the status refurbished by the manufacturer have been tested by Apple itself and not by iUsed. Since Apple does not have this certification, these devices cannot be sold with the Refurbished label.

We believe it is unnecessary to unpack these devices and test them again when Apple has already done so. Naturally, you also receive a two-year warranty on these nearly new devices.
