How do I take a screenshot on the Mac?

Do you want to buy a MacBook but don’t want to spend too much money? Or do you not necessarily need the latest model? Then a refurbished MacBook is the right choice for you. Of course, there are a few things you need to pay attention to, as the refurbished market isn’t always straightforward. Sometimes products aren’t delivered, poor-quality products are sent, or you can’t reach customer service. By keeping these six points in mind, you can avoid all these issues, and buying a refurbished MacBook won’t be a daunting task!

Where to buy a refurbished MacBook?

The most important part of finding a refurbished MacBook is the seller. The seller needs to be reliable, after all, as you want to receive a quality product. So, don’t blindly go for the lowest price! If an offer seems too good to be true, it usually is. But how do you know if the seller is trustworthy? Check whether the seller meets the criteria on the checklist below, and you’ll be on the right track!

1) Check the reviews

A good first step is to do some research on the reviews of a seller or webshop. Is the seller affiliated with an independent review system like Trustpilot, Kiyoh, Klantenvertellen, Feedbackcompany, or Trusted Shops? Or can you find reviews on Google? If you can answer ‘Yes’ to these questions, that’s already a good sign!

Of course, the content of those reviews needs to be good as well. Carefully read through the most recent reviews. Are they all negative? Red flag! You can assume that this webshop is not reliable. Are the reviews positive? That’s a good sign, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the webshop is 100% trustworthy yet.

2) Check the contact with customer service

Try calling the number listed on the website. If you end up in a waiting queue, that’s annoying, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the company is unreliable. However, if there’s no phone number listed at all, or if you don’t get any response and the line is dead, you can assume that the webshop isn’t trustworthy.

You can also start a chat or send an email before ordering a refurbished MacBook. If the contact goes smoothly and you get a good feeling about the company, that can definitely be a reason to go ahead and place an order. Still unsure and want more information? Then check the following points to be certain.

3) Check if the company is affiliated with the Refurbished Quality Mark

The Refurbished Quality Mark is an independent certification created in 2019 by Techniek Nederland. Companies affiliated with this certification undergo an annual financial audit by DAS, ensuring that the company you’re buying from won’t go bankrupt unexpectedly!

4) Check if the webshop is registered with the Chamber of Commerce

If the webshop is a serious business, it will definitely be registered with the Chamber of Commerce. Simply type the webshop’s name into the Chamber of Commerce search, and you’ll quickly see whether or not the name appears in the search results. If the name doesn’t appear, that’s a sign that this webshop may not be trustworthy!

5) Check if the webshop/seller is active on social media and/or frequently blogs

A seller or webshop aiming to scam people won’t invest time in social media or blogging. Search for the name of the seller/webshop on Facebook or Instagram and see if they’ve posted recently. Additionally, some webshops also maintain a blog section. Check whether the webshop has posted recently. If they have, you can assume the webshop is trustworthy. A fraudulent webshop wouldn’t bother investing time in quality blog articles.

6) Check the warranty and return policies

Lastly, always check the warranty and return policies. If the product isn’t what you expected, you should always be able to return it and get your money back. Check whether you can easily return the product and if there are any potential costs involved. Most refurbished sellers offer a two-year warranty. Make sure the seller you’ve found offers the same!
